Evaluation and Promotion

Class I & II

In class I and II the following skills and competencies will be assessed.

A. Languages

01. Reading Skills – Pronunciation, Fluency, Comprehension.
02. Writing Skills – Creative Writing, Handwriting, Grammar, Spelling, Vocabulary.
03. Speaking Skills – Conversation, Recitation.
04. Listening Skills – Comprehension.

  1. Mathematics – Concepts, Activity, Tables, Mental ability.
  2. Environmental Science– Environmental sensitivity, Activity,

Project, Group Discussion.

  1. Co-curricular Activities
    a) Games – Enthusiasm, Discipline, Team Spirit, Talent.
    b) Art / Craft – Interest, creativity, skills.
    c) Music / Dance – Interest, Rhythm, Melody.
  2. Personality Development– Courteousness, confidence, neatness, care of belongings, regularity and punctuality, initiative, self-control, respect for others property, sharing and caring.

Five points scale for indicating the achievements will be marked.

A* – Outstanding 90% – 100%
A – Excellent 75% – 89%
B – Very Good 56% – 74%
C – Good 35% – 55%
D – Scope for improvement below 35%

Classes III – V

    C. Environmental Science– 1. Environmental sensitivity; 2. Activity/Project; 3. Group discussion.
    Science – 1. Concept; 2. Activity/Project; 3. Scientific skills; 4. Group discussion.
  4. Computer Education– 1. Skills; 2. Aptitude
    E. Games– 1. Enthusiasm; 2. Discipline; 3. Team spirit; 4. Talent (strength, stamina and speed)
    F. Art / Craft – 1. Interest; 2. Creativity; 3. Skill
    G. Music / Dance – 1. Interest; 2. Rhythm; 3. Melody
    H. Personality Development – 1. Courteousness; 2. Confidence; 3. Care of belongings; 4. Neatness; 5. Regularity and punctuality; 6. Initiative 7. Spirit of service; 8. Respect for others property; 9. Self-control

Regular assessment will be done to check the understanding of the concepts and proper attention will be given to the ones who are weak in that particular area. Formative tests will be conducted regularly and in addition to those three term exams will be conducted as Summative Assessment.

Class VI to X

Assessment is made in three areas. 1. Scholastic areas; 2. Co-scholastic areas and 3. Co-curricular activities.

Part-I : Scholastic areas (Languages & Subjects taught)

There will be two terms / semesters. First Term will be from April to September and Second Term from October to March. Each term will have two Formative and one Summative Assessment. Assessment will be indicated in Grades. The Grading Scale for the scholastic Areas is a nine point Grading Scale : A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D, E1, E2.

Part – 2 : Co-Scholastic Areas

It consists of four parts on a Five Point Grading Scale once in a session. Grading scales are : A, B, C, D, E.

Part – 2 (A) : Life skills consists of

Self awareness, Problem Solving, Decision Making, Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Thinking Skills, Interpersonal Relationships, Effective Communication, Social Skills, Empathy, Managing Emotions, Dealing with stress, Emotional Skills.

Part – 2 (B) : Work Education

Part – 2 (C) : Visual and Performing Arts

Part – 2 (D) : Attitudes and values

Attitudes towards teachers, school mates, school programmes, and Environment. Value systems refers to the frame work which must be developed right through Primary to Secondary level.

These will be recorded after a period of observation over the year by the Class Teacher in consultation with the subject teachers.

Part – 3 : Co-curricular Activities

It consists of Co-curricular Activities where in choice in participation and assessment of these is available. It has two subparts to be assessed on a five point grading scale.

Part – 3 (A) : 1. Literary and Creative Skills

  1. Scientific Skills
  2. Information and Communication Technology
  3. Organisational and Leadership Skills (Clubs)

A student is expected to choose two activities from these four groups and will be assessed.
